By Order No. 728 of 21 July 2020, the Centre for the Collective Use of Educational and Scientific Equipment “Information System 'Soil and Geographic Database of Russia'” was established at Moscow University.

The work of the Centre is based on the application of information technologies for soil inventory and data processing using BigData technology (analysis of large data), aimed at introducing the results into practice.

The main directions of research:

• creation of natural soil databases;

• integration of natural soil information from the centers of agrochemical service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation into the distributed BigData Informational System;

• development of geo-information systems of natural soil data;

• development of expert systems and program complexes, functioning online as a part of distributed IS PGBD;

• implementation of algorithms for using digital soil information in scientific and educational practice.
