The soil museum by Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Siberian Branch of the RAS (Novosibirsk)
The soil museum was opened at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the SB RAS on January 14, 2001, on the initiative of the director of the Institute I.M. Hajiyeva. The appearance of such a museum in a specialized research institution in the system of the Russian Academy of Sciences dealing with the study of soils was logical. Such a specialized museum is the first in Siberia.
Soil Museum of IPA SB RAS today is a dynamic, constantly evolving structure serving scientific and educational purposes, possessing several large collections. The main fund of the museum consists of soil monoliths - vertical sections of soil with undisturbed addition in the form of a prism, with a height of 100 cm or more. In addition, among the exhibits are other natural samples - soil growths, samples of soil-forming rocks, dense rocks, a collection of micronoliths of soils. Collections of the soil museum number a lot of photographic materials, cartographic materials, information stands, memorial items.
